In 1954 Egon Brütsch designed the first German car with a fibreglass shell (a 3-wheeler, called the ‘Type 200' or ‘Spatz’ pictured above). But he had difficulties constructing it and so he sold the design to Harald Friedrich of toolmakers Alzmetal
